The BeanCast | The Best Marketing Podcast Anywhere

Hi Everyone and a happy new year.

Really enjoyed the outakes show, but there's no need to comment about that here.

This weeks show for me really highlighted the point about whether a global player can have a blanket approach to marketing, moreover, are consumers around the world different?  Take the car industry, don't most young guys and gals (in increasing numbers) want a flash, sporty car?  Won't they be attracted to zippy ads, high gloss articles and the latest music?  Indeed, won't senior excs look for quality, brand values and perhaps toys?  Whilst I can appreciate some cultural differences, surely any marketing differences between regions is either fine-tuned to the individual audiences or decisions made by local marketeers.  I do take Bob's point about whether it's a motor industry thing, after all Apple, Coke and others seem to manage in their respective industries.

Another topic which intrigues me, was mentioned by Bob during his topics to watch.  The Kindle sales are amazing from what a few months ago seemed dead in the water.  Over here in the UK it is really taking off, thanks in part to the branding.  Before it was a Kindle, who/what is that?  The tv ads started showing a very large Amazon logo.  Somehow it is more trusted and accepted, by being Amazon.
