Well everyone, its been a few podcasts since I've managed to find a few moments to start a discussion thread.
I was amazed amount the low percentage of tv time-shifters! Is this just another case of those inside the industry doing something which is far from the norm. I hardly ever watch anything "live" these days, mainly to save myself time, but secondly, so I'm not tied to the tv schedule.
This also lines up with the suggestion that tv ads are still king. Humans are of course very lazy by nature and I firmly believe that watching tv is so passive and requires so little effort, it is likely to be the king for a long time. Even searching online or interacting in the soical space requires more effort than sitting in front of some tv programme, Which is why I think tv is so important. I agree with the panel, that the internet still hasn't figured out a way to reach the masses.
Over here in the UK, I'm watching the way all the major companies are using the 2012 games to promote. So far, I have been bored by the lack of creativity. But to be fair, we have got 15 months to go.
