I'd blame this week's show title on Duane, being the SEO guy and all, but we were all complicit in the innuendo. And as usual, we managed to fit some interesting discussion between the laughs. So no harm done.

So please enjoy the show. And remember, I'm always game for more Twitter followers. I'm TheBeanCast. As always, thanks for listening and please add a positive review to iTunes if you like the show.

Live Streaming vs On Demand

Not in conflict. We should not pick one or the other, but do both. All events or presentations should be live streamed and include reaction from a live audience, through chat, callin or in-person. This makes the best quality show. After the show, it should be immediately available for downloading and embedding with suggested keywords to assist in conversation linking and aggregating. This makes for the best presention of the material in the show and best possibilities for reaction and follow through discussion after the show.

I would have to agree with you. But it is interesting to note that in the entertainment realm (most notably the video game podcasts I'm involved with) there's always push-back on the live stuff by the early adopters who signed on for podcast download. Often the original download folks will notice a degraded quality in production, because the live shows are just not as well produced as the pre-recorded podcasts. It's a tough balance to make the shift and keep your loyalists.

But having said that, there's clearly a trend toward and acceptance of live-streaming. And I've noticed these podcasts-turned-live-shows getting massive audience bumps as a result of the move.

For me the additional input from an audience makes up for some decrease in production polish.

In general, binary choices are good to avoid. As in the old saying, "When you reach a fork in the road, take it."

One of the things that I'm contemplating is whether there is room for both with different IPs. Meaning still have some shows be download only, while incorporating live plus download into entirely new, but complementary shows. Either way, agreed that live needs to be addressed.

Yes, your vision for your shows should continue to guide you. Doing both live and demand casts does not necessarily mean every show must be both live and on demand.
