Pay-Per-Click Training Turns To Mobile And Social

Well this is my first attempt at a blog on the excellent BeanCast site.

I'm not that heavily involved in Ad and PR as many of you guys, I just had to get involved because I work for a small company, who can't afford to outsource certain skills. So I get the following jobs: 1) Web designer, 2) SEO manager, 3) PPC manager, 4) On & Offline marketeer and then may normal role of actually selling.

I am self taught in terms of Online marketing and web design and so I regularly attend government assisted training course to try and get a more professional outlook on life. Hence one of the reasons I like the podcast so much. It helps me to firstly find out about up and coming trends and secondly, get to hear some professional debate about them.

Last week I attended a day long event aimed at setting up an Adwords account and aiming for quality scores of 7/10 or better. It was interest as it was the first time I actually heard anyone admit that ROI on PPC was falling and also the first time the teacher had actually said aim for positions 4-6 and not 1-3. But the discussion quickly moved from the course material and we started to debate the recent changes to Google and especially the introduction into "instant". It soom became apparent that most of us had almost given up on SEO and had a renewed desire for PPC, but just wanted it cheaper than before.

Whilst technically I didn't learn to much and I will be going on a similar master class level next month, it was usual to get the opinions for all sorts of small business owners from around the East Midlands (England). Most thought that Google was changing faster than they had realised and secondly, they had no idea how to react.
