We're doing something very cool on
The BeanCast this week. Because both
Angela Natividad (
AdRants) and
Åsk Wäppling (
Adland) were in
Cannes this past week, we're going to get them both on to continue and extend our examination of the advertising festival, benefiting now from their first-hand perspective.
In terms of marketing podcast fodder, I think this will be an immensely interesting discussion. It's one thing to judge the show's merits based on the stories we read and the pictures we see. It's another thing entirely to get impressions from people who actively participated in the event.
But the last thing I want to do is rehash the same topics
we brought up this past week with
Jonah,
Hal and
Alan. So before I get too far in preparing the show, I'd like to ask for some additional feedback from you all.
You've seen the reporting that came out this week. And hopefully you've heard last week's show and have a good reference for the criticisms out there. So what do you think now? Did the festival achieve it's goal of appearing relevant? Were the award winners a surprise or expected? Was the reporting of the event different this year than it was in the past? Have your impressions of Cannes changed in any significant way?
Let us know all your thoughts and we'll include your questions in the show. Just make your thoughts and questions succinct to help us clearly communicate what you want to say. Use Twitter as a guide and try to keep each thought to 140 characters, if that helps.
Bill Green (
Make the Logo Bigger) and I, who were not at the festival, will also be on hand to provide the outsider perspective during the show, so this balance along with your questions should provide you with an entertaining program.
